ATLANTA — Nicki Minaj and Jay-Z each took home three awards to emerge as the big winners at the 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards held Saturday in Atlanta.
Minaj won Rookie of the Year, People’s Champ and the Made-You-Look award, a title the Lil Wayne protégé earned behind her Harajuku Barbie wigs and colorful fashion attire.
Jay-Z took home honors for Best Live Performer, CD of the Year for The Blueprint 3 and the Perfect Combo Award for his New York anthem with Alicia Keys, "Empire State of Mind."
Also emerging victorious was Rick Ross, who won Track of the Year and Best Club Banger for his hit song "B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)."
Ross also delivered one of the night’s most memorable performances when he, Diddy and DJ Khaled opened the show with his award-winning anthem before bringing MC Hammer out to sing "2 Legit 2 Quit."
The 2010 BET Hip-Hop Awards, hosted by comedian Mike Epps, will air on Oct. 12.
