HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office is seeking answers after an investigator’s report on Brittany Murphy’s death was seemingly leaked to TMZ, the Associated Press reports.
Earlier today, the celebrity gossip site said that it had reviewed the notes written by an investigator during an inspection of the star’s home after her death on Sunday. TMZ’s report went on to state that Murphy’s husband and mother “attempted to revive the decedent by placing her in the shower and running the water.”
“The decedent remained unresponsive and purged her stomach contents prior to the arrival of the paramedics,” TMZ reported.
The site went on to state that “a slew of prescription drugs” were found at the scene.
TMZ declined to comment on how it obtained the information for the story.
Murphy, 32, collapsed early Sunday in the bathroom of her Hollywood Hills home. She was pronounced dead a few hours later at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which said her death was the result of a cardiac arrest.
An autopsy on the Clueless star’s body was completed on Monday, but her official cause of death is pending the receipt of additional toxicological tests and tissue studies that have been ordered by the deputy medical examiner. Those test results will likely take at least four to six weeks.
