HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Padma Lakshmi is pregnant!
The “Top Chef” host is expecting her first baby after years of struggling with endometriosis, the star’s rep tells Us Weekly.
The 39-year-old Lakshmi has long been an advocate for the condition, in which the tissue that normally lines the uterus grows in other areas of the body, resulting in pain, irregular bleeding and possible infertility.
“As a result of her condition, this pregnancy has been referred to by her physician as nothing short of a medical miracle,” her rep says.
The father of Lakshmi’s baby was not identified. She was previously married to author Salman Rushdie, but they divorced in 2007 after three years of marriage.
There has been some speculation that the baby’s father is Manu Nathan, a claim Lakshmi’s rep shot down.
