Penelope Cruz Cast in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'

Penelope Cruz, pictures, picture, photos, photo, pics, pic, images, image, hot, sexy, latest, new, 2010HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Penelope Cruz is heading for the dangerous seas.

The 35-year-old actress will play Johnny Depp's love interest in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, producer Jerry Bruckheimer tells MTV.

Cruz will play the daughter of British actor Ian McShane's Blackbeard character in the fourth installment of the hit franchise, which is slated to begin shooting in June.

"She brings a lot of humor to it. And the fact that she's so feisty," said Bruckheimer, adding that there will be "a little romance between [Depp's] Captain Jack and the character that Penelope plays."

While Will (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth (Keira Knightley) won't appear in the next installment, Bruckheimer confirmed that Geoffrey Rush will be back as Barbossa.

Cruz and Depp last teamed up on the big screen in 2001's Blow.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is slated for release in summer 2011.
