LONDON — Prince William and Kate Middleton have set their wedding date.
The couple’s wedding will take place at Westminster Abbey on Friday, April 29, 2011, Palace officials said Tuesday.
The Royal Family will pay for the wedding, following the precedents set by the marriages of The Prince and Princess of Wales in 1981 and Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip in 1947.
William and Middleton, both 28, became engaged in October during a private holiday in Kenya. The groom-to-be informed The Queen and other close members of his family, while also seeking permission from Middleton’s father.
Following the marriage, the couple will live in north Wales, where William will continue to serve with the Royal Air Force.
The two have been dating off and on for eight years after meeting at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
