HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Rap star Warren G was arrested on drug charges early Sunday in Los Angeles, The Associated Press reports.
The 35-year-old music artist was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Ryan Butler, who was pulled over for running a red light. During the traffic stop, police discovered marijuana in the vehicle.
Warren G and Butler were both booked for investigation of possession of a controlled substance. They were later released after each posting $20,000 bail.
Warren G, whose real name is Warren Griffin III, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1995 for his hit single “Regulate.”
The Long Beach, Calif. native was also arrested in 1996 for carrying a loaded assault weapon.
