HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — One day after Michael Jackson’s personal physician broke his silence, a report has surfaced claiming that Dr. Conrad Murray will be charged with manslaughter within the next two weeks.
A law enforcement source tells Fox News that investigators plan to execute a search warrant next week, possibly at a Los Angeles pharmacy, in an attempt to gather more evidence before filing charges.
Murray, who was with Jackson when he fell ill and died on June 25, has seen his home and medical offices raided by federal authorities investigating the singer’s death. The physician reportedly told police that he administered the powerful anesthesia propofol to Jackson in the hours before his death, but his attorney has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
Fox claims that the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office is currently in talks with investigators about whether they will offer Murray the option of surrendering in Los Angeles, or if he will be arrested in Houston, where he is currently staying.
The law enforcement source also said that Jackson’s longtime dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, will be charged for medical malpractice.
A spokeswoman for the L.A. District Attorney’s office denied that officials have decided to charge both doctors, saying that “ there is no way to know what charges may be filed and against whom.”
On Tuesday, Murray made his first public comments by posting a video on YouTube to thank his supporters.
“I want to thank all of my patients and friends who have sent such kind emails, letters and messages to let me know of your support and prayers for me and my family,” Murray said in the video. “Because of all that is going on, I am afraid to return phone calls or use my email. Therefore, I recorded this video to let all of you know that I have been receiving your messages.”
“I have not been able to thank you personally, which as you know, is not normal for me,” he continued. “Your messages give me strength and courage and keep me going. They mean the world to me. Please don’t worry — as long as I keep God in my heart and you in my life, I will be fine. I have done all I can do. I told the truth and I have faith that the truth will prevail. God bless you and thank you.”
