HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Richard Dreyfuss is taking on his own flesh and blood in court.

The Academy Award-winning actor has filed a lawsuit against his father and uncle, alleging they failed to repay him for a $870,000 loan dating back to 1984, according to the Associated Press.

In the suit, which was filed on Friday, the 60-year-old star claims he loaned the money to his close relatives, who owned an interest in a Los Angeles office building.

Dreyfuss argues that both the loan and the corresponding interest have yet be paid back. He is asking for the loan to be paid in full, in addition to interest and punitive damages.

In his court papers, the film star says that both his father, Norman Dreyfuss, and uncle, Gilbert Dreyfuss, have acted with “fraud” and “malice.”

Dreyfuss, who won a best actor Oscar for 1977’s “The Goodbye Girl,” has appeared in several notable films during the course of his career, including “American Graffiti,” “Jaws,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “Down and Out in Beverly Hills,” “Stakeout” and “Mr. Holland’s Opus.”

His family has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
