HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Robert Hoffman has signed on for the upcoming indie film “We Got the Beat,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Robert Hoffman has signed on for the upcoming indie film “We Got the Beat,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The ’80s comedy revolves a high school football player named Brad who quits the team in order to prove he has talent off the field as well. He soon succeeds in quieting his doubters by turning his heavy metal band into a pioneering boy band.

The 27-year-old Hoffman will play the boy-toy and live-in lover of Brad’s mother.

Shooting on the film, which was written by Jon Artigo, who will also handle directing duties, is set to begin this month in Massachusetts.

Hoffman, who made his acting debut in 2003 on the NBC series “American Dreams,” most recently starred in the feature “Step Up 2 the Streets.”

The Florida native has several movies upcoming, including the indie comedies “The Last Stan” and “Kids in America.” He will also star in “They Came From Upstairs.”
