Robin WilliamsHOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Robin Williams is expected to make a full recovery after having a heart surgery that his doctors deemed successful.

The 57-year-old comedian had an operation to replace an aortic valve at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic on March 13, his publicist told People on Monday.

“A couple hours after surgery, he was entertaining the medical team and making us all laugh,” said surgeon A. Marc Gillinov, M.D. through the star’s rep.

Williams was in the midst of his “Weapons of Self-Destruction” comedy tour when he fell ill earlier this month in Florida. He was hospitalized at the University of Miami after experiencing shortness of breath and later transferred to Cleveland.

“I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes,” Williams said in a statement after he was initially hospitalized. “This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”

The “Good Will Hunting” star expects to resume his 80-city comedy trek in the fall.
