T-PainGEORGETOWN, Guyana — Hip-hop and R&B star T-Pain has bowed out of a concert appearance in Guyana after receiving “credible death and kidnapping threats,” his promoter told The Associated Press.

The 23-year-old singer, whose real name is Faheem Najm, was scheduled to perform Monday night as part of the South American nation’s Carnival celebrations.

The 23-year-old singer, whose real name is Faheem Najm, was scheduled to perform Monday night as part of the South American nation’s Carnival celebrations.

Promoter Kerwin Bollers told AP that T-Pain’s performance was cancelled after he received the threats via e-mail and phone.

An investigation into the matter is currently underway, a local police commander told AP.

T-Pain, well known for his trademark top hat, would have been one of the most prominent singers from the U.S. to perform in the country in years.
