HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The Green Hornet stung the competition with a $34 million debut to win the weekend box office, according to studio estimates released Sunday.
The superhero film starring Seth Rogen easily topped Ron Howard’s return to comedy in The Dilemma, which premiered in second place at $17.4 million.
Last weekend’s top film, the Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon western True Grit, slipped to third place at $9 million, while The King’s Speech finished fourth with $9 million in sales.
The ballet thriller Black Swan came in fifth place at $8.1 million.
