‘The Hangover’ Lingers Atop Weekend Box Office

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — This is one hangover that’s just fine lingering in its current state.

“The Hangover” had ticket sales of $33.4 million to win the box office for the second straight weekend, according to studio estimates released Sunday.

The raunchy comedy, which stars Bradley Cooper and Heather Graham, just outdistanced Disney and Pixar Animation’s “Up,” which raked up $30.5 million to finish No. 2 for the second straight week.

“The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3,” the new Denzel Washington and John Travolta thriller, debuted in third with $25 million in ticket sales.

“Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” ($9.6 million) and “Land of the Lost” ($9.2 million) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, to round out the weekend top five.
