The 26-year-old reality TV star wants some credit for the recent legalization of gay marriage in California.

“It is because of me. I definitely think [my show] has helped the movement,” Tequila told Us Weekly at Wednesday night’s premiere of “The Love Guru” in Hollywood.

Tequila’s “Shot at Love” show on MTV features 16 men and 16 women competing to win the heart of the openly bisexual star.

“Before it came out, everyone was still a little apprehensive about [same sex relationships],” she said. “Then they realized, ‘Wow, everyone is really into this stuff, and it is fine.’ The next thing you know, [gay marriage] is legal.”

Tequila, who is currently writing a self-help book, recently opened up about her December breakup with season one contestant Bobby Banhart, saying her show has been a blessing despite enduring heartbreak along the way.

“It took me so long to open up like that. My whole life I’ve been closed up. It feels good, she told The Associated Press. “Even though you get your heart broken, it’s good to be in touch with your feelings.”
