MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Carrie Underwood was on center stage Sunday as she sang the National Anthem before Super Bowl XLIV.
The 26-year-old country star performed in a dazzling white pantsuit in front of the sold-out crowd at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
Underwood joined an elite group of stars who have belted out the Super Bowl National Anthem, including Billy Joel, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Whitney Houston, Harry Connick, Jr., Garth Brooks, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Luther Vandross, Cher, Faith Hill, Mariah Carey, the Dixie Chicks, Beyoncé Knowles and fellow American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson.
Sparked by an onside kick to begin the second half, the New Orleans Saints marched to a 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL's title game.
Next up for Underwood is her first movie role. She'll soon begin shooting on Soul Surfer, the true-life story of surfing champion Bethany Hamilton, who defied all odds after having her left arm bit off by a shark at age 13.
