HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nearly eight months into his gender reassignment surgery, Chaz Bono is finally living the life he’s always dreamed about.
“Life is short and life is precious. This is who I am. I need to finally be who I am,” Bono (formerly known as Chastity) revealed during an interview on Thursday’s Good Morning America.
Bono, 40, also gave ABC’s Chris Cuomo a glimpse into his confusion over the years, admitting that he always felt like a boy as a child.
“To me, gender is between your ears, not between your legs,” he said. “I’ve felt male as far back as I can remember.”
Bono publicly revealed his plans to undergo a gender change in June.
