HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — “Race to Witch Mountain” climbed to the top of the box office over the weekend, easily claiming the No. 1 spot with ticket sales of $25 million.
The remake of Disney’s popular 1975 family classic, “Escape to Witch Mountain,” easily outlasted last week’s No. 1 film, “Watchmen,” which took in $18.1 million in its second week of release.
Rounding out the top five were “The Last House on the Left,” which debuted with a third-place finish, followed by “Taken” and “Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail,” which finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
