Video: Stevie Wonder Singing ‘Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer’ at Michael Jackson Memorial

LOS ANGELES — Stevie Wonder first met Michael Jackson when the young child star was turning heads as a member of the Jackson 5. So it was rightfully difficult for the elder Motown great to bid Jackson adieu at Tuesday’s memorial service in Los Angeles.

“This is a moment that I wished that I didn’t live to see come, but as much as I can say that and mean it, I do know that God is good,” said Wonder as he took the stage. “And I do know that as much as we may feel, and do, that we need Michael with us, God must have needed him more.”

The 59-year-old music artist then delivered a powerful version of his fittingly-titled 1971 song, “Never Dreamed You’d Leave in Summer.”
