‘Where the Wild Things Are’ Has Scary Buzz

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — The highly-anticipated movie adaption of Maurice Sendak’s bedtime story “Where the Wild Things Are” is still months away from hitting theaters, but “the room” movie is creating quite the buzz on the Web.

The film, directed by Spike Jonze, brings alive the classic story of young Max who is sent to his room without supper and deals with his anger by escaping to a land where wild beasts roam.

Warner Bros. released a trailer for the film in March and now Sendak and Jonze are sitting down to discuss the movie, along with writer Dave Eggers.

Rumors has it that a December 2007 test screening sent children out of the room in fear.

“You have to make it dangerous. You have to make something that respects kids and doesn’t talk down to them,” Jonze says of upcoming work.

“Where the Wild Things Are” is due to arrive in theaters on Oct. 16
