ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Track Palin, the oldest child of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, has married.
Palin, 22, recently married his high school sweetheart, 21-year-old Britta Hanson, People magazine reported Thursday.
"Yes, they did & we couldn't be any more blessed!" Sarah Palin tweeted Thursday afternoon.
The Palin family attorney, John Tiemessen in Fairbanks, confirmed the marriage in an e-mail to The Associated Press but could provide no additional details.
The ceremony was held in scenic Hatcher Pass, a mountain pass through the Talkeetna Mountains not far from the Palin's home in Wasilla. The newlyweds plan a larger wedding celebration next winter at Alyeska Ski Resort south of Anchorage when family and friends from out of state can travel north.
Track Palin is an Army reservist. He spent a year deployed in Iraq with the Army. When his mother was the GOP vice presidential candidate in 2008, she spoke at her son's deployment ceremony in Fairbanks, one of the few trips back to Alaska while on the campaign trail that fall.
Track Palin enlisted in the Army on the sixth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. After the commercial fishing season, he plans to take courses at the University of Alaska.
Hanson is a University of Alaska nursing student. She's the daughter of Rev. Duane and Elizabeth Hanson, People reported.
Sarah Palin and her husband, Todd, have four other children and one grandchild.
