The first day of jury selection ended Thursday with 59 people indicating they could devote the nearly two months for the trial. Another 160 potential jurors have been summoned for Friday’s proceedings and a judge is hoping to get between 85 and 100 people qualified before entering the next phase.

Jurors who aren’t dismissed for hardship reasons are being asked to answer roughly 125 questions about the case against Dr. Conrad Murray and their background. Attorneys will question the jurors in person on May 4.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter. Opening statements are scheduled to begin on May 9.
