ATLANTA – Martin Luther King III and civil rights icon Andrew Young are among the founders of a television network aimed at African-Americans set to launch this fall.
Bounce TV will offer programming around the clock, targeting blacks ages 25 to 54 with movies, sports, documentaries, faith-based programs and original programming.
The network has acquired television rights to nearly 400 movies, including classics like "The Wiz" and "Car Wash"; several Spike Lee productions such as "Jungle Fever," "Mo’ Better Blues" and "Do the Right Thing"; and Denzel Washington headliners like "The Hurricane," "Glory" and "Philadelphia."
Rainforest Films co-founders Rob Hardy and Will Packer are on Bounce’s leadership team, and ex-Sony Pictures Television executive Jeffrey Wolf is leading distribution efforts. The digital network is designed to be carried on local television stations.
