Adrian Grenier was raised in Brooklyn, New York by his mother, Karesse Grenier, a real estate agent. His mother met his father, John Dunbar in a commune in the 1970s and the two were never married. Grenier is of Apache Native American, Irish and European descent. He attended Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts and went to Bard College, where he studied drama.
Grenier made his acting debut in the 1997 independent drama "Arresting Gena." Two years later, he starred opposite Melissa Joan Hart in the feature "Drive Me Crazy," while also appearing in the Britney Spears music video "You Drive Me Crazy." Roles in the cult favorites "Harvard Man" and "The Adventures of Sebastian Cole" soon followed.
In 2004, Grenier landed his breakout role, starring as Vincent Chase in the HBO series "Entourage."
In addition to playing in a rock band, Grenier also has an interest in working behind the scenes, making his directorial debut in 2002 with the documentary "Shot in the Dark."
