Ali Larter was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. She is the daughter of Margaret, a homemaker, and Danforth Larter, a trucking executive. She attended Carusi Middle School and Cherry Hill High School West. Larter started her career at the age of 13 by working for the world-renowned Ford Modeling Agency. When she turned 18, she settled in Los Angeles and started taking acting classes.
Larter made her acting debut in 1997, appearing on the television shows "Suddenly Susan" and "Chicago Sons." Two years later, she appeared on the big screen for the first time as a whipped-cream-wearing cheerleader in "Varsity Blues." The role was a reunion of sorts after she previously appeared with James Van Der Beek on "Dawson’s Creek."
Larter landed her breakout role in 2006, securing the part of a single mother/stripper with a very dark side on the NBC superhero drama "Heroes."
