Eva Mendes Just Fine Being Nude
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Eva Mendes wants Americans to loosen up when it comes to being nude.
In an interview with Spanish Vogue, the 34-year-old actress speaks out on the recent controversy surrounded her banned Calvin Klein Secret Obsession commercial.
"I love my country, but I believe that we are too quick to censor nudity," she says. "We seem okay with violence, but nudity we race to criticize and censor. I'm not at all ashamed or frightened about showing my body."
Mendes, who exploded to fame behind her sexy role in 2001's "Training Day," says she has no problem showing off her sex appeal.
"I love it, but it's not important to me to always be thought of as sexy," the Miami-born, Los Angeles-raised star explains. "I like it when it doesn't limit my career. It's a part of my life, but on a secondary plane."
As for how she keeps herself in shape, Mendes says it all comes down to a good diet and plenty of exercise.
"I try not to go crazy, but yes, I pay attention to what I eat," she says. "I try to stay away from pasta, bread, cakes, sweets, cookies and ice cream."
