HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jamie Kennedy may be thinking about a trip to the altar, but the couple is not engaged as has been reported.
On Tuesday, the New York Post claimed the couple had an impromptu engagement while Kennedy was performing at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, Calif. The paper said Kennedy proposed after he called Hewitt on stage and an audience member shouted, "Marry her!"
"There is no truth to the report," a rep for the actress tells Us Weekly.
Kennedy, 39, first confirmed that the "Ghost Whisperer" co-stars were an item in March during an appearance on Ryan Seacrest's KISS-FM radio show. The revelation came on the heels of the 30-year-old Hewitt's January announcement that she and her fiancé, Ross McCall, had broken off their engagement over the holidays.
This is not the first time that the hot and heavy couple has been the subject of engagement rumors. In June, Hewitt popped by 104.7 FM's Johnjay and Rich Show in Arizona, where she discussed engagement reports that began after she and Kennedy went ring shopping in Las Vegas. Hewitt said Kennedy asked for a proposal timeline after the report, to which her response was: "By this time next year, if we're not planning something, then there's a situation."
