NEW YORK — Mary-Kate Olsen's attorney released a statement Monday saying the actress had "nothing" to do with the drugs that killed Heath Ledger in January.
"Despite tabloid speculation, Mary-Kate Olsen had nothing whatsoever to do with the drugs found in Heath Ledger's home or his body, and she does not know where he obtained them," Olsen's lawyer, Michael C. Miller, said in a statement, according to People magazine.
The statement was issued after the New York Post reported that the 22-year-old actress is refusing to speak with investigators until she receives immunity from prosecution. Federal investigators are currently looking into where Ledger obtained the powerful painkiller OxyContin, one of several prescription drugs that resulted in his death.
"Regarding the government's investigation, at Ms. Olsen's request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger's death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed," the former "Full House" star's attorney continued in his statement.
"We don't know the source of the information being quoted in the media regarding the government's inquiry, but these descriptions are incomplete and inaccurate," he added.
