NEW YORK — The masseuse who discovered Heath Ledger's body called Mary-Kate Olsen before dialing 911, authorities revealed on Wednesday.
Masseuse Diana Wolozin arrived at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday for her scheduled appointment with Ledger and was let in by housekeeper Teresa Solomon, according to new details released by investigators. When Ledger failed to come out of his bedroom by 3 p.m., Wolozin called him on her cell phone. After no one picked up, she entered the room, set up the massage table near his bed, and shook him while he was lying in bed.
When the 28-year-old actor failed to respond, Wolozin used the speed dial on Ledger's cell phone to call Olsen, knowing she was a friend of the actor.
When reached in California, the 21-year-old Olsen initially told Wolozin she would call security people she knew in New York for help. With the "Brokeback Mountain" star still unconscious, Wolozin decided to dial 911 herself at 3:26 p.m.
Paramedics arrived at the apartment at almost the exact same time as Olsen's security people, at 3:33 p.m.
Attempts to revive Ledger using defibrillators and CPR failed, and he was pronounced dead at 3:36 p.m. By then, more security personnel summoned by Olsen had arrived, in addition to the NYPD.
Police believe that Ledger died sometime between 1 p.m. and 2:45 p.m. because Solomon heard the actor snoring around 1 p.m. while she was in the apartment to change a lightbulb in an adjacent bathroom.
