HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Nelly will soon be making music on the small screen.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the 33-year-old Grammy winner is joining CBS' "CSI: NY" for a multi-episode arc.
Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Haynes Jr., will play a club owner who serves as a confidential informant to Mac and his team, EW says.
The St. Louis native has a limited acting background, with his biggest role to date being the 2005 remake of "The Longest Yard," in which he starred alongside Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. Despite his limited experience, show executives were raving to EW.
"He's a great actor," said executive producer Pam Veasey. "He really stepped up."
Nelly won't be the only music artist appearing on the hit drama, as the band Maroon 5 will make a cameo in the second episode of the new season.
