LOS ANGELES – A California appeals court has rejected a bid by Mel Gibson's ex-girlfriend to remove his attorneys from a contentious child custody case because she consulted with one of their law partners.

Oksana Grigorieva, the actor's girlfriend, gave birth a baby girl named Lucia on Friday in Los Angeles, Gibson's rep confirmed Monday to People.
This is the first child for the couple, who met on the set of Gibson's 2008 movie Edge of Reason.
Gibson, 53, and Grigorieva, 39, announced the pregnancy in June, just six weeks after the Braveheart star's wife, Robyn, filed for divorce after 28 years of marriage.
Gibson has since returned to New York to resume shooting on The Beaver, a film co-starring Jodie Foster.
