NEW YORK — Mary-Kate Olsen is reportedly exercising her rights when it comes to federal investigators probing the death of Heath Ledger.
According to the New York Post, the 22-year-old actress is refusing to speak with investigators until she receives immunity from prosecution.
A day after the actor's shocking January death, authorities revealed that the masseuse who discovered his body had called Olsen before dialing 911.
When reached in California, Olsen told the masseuse she would call her security people in New York for help. Paramedics later arrived at the apartment at almost the exact same time as Olsen's security crew.
While Olsen's attorney has rejected several requests from federal officials to speak with her, it's possible that they could obtain a grand-jury subpoena and force the former "Full House" star into sharing whatever she knows.
The medical examiner determined Ledger's death to be an accidental overdose of prescription drugs. Sources tell the Post that all of the drugs were legally obtained by Ledger, except for the powerful painkiller OxyContin.
Sources say Olsen is the lone remaining individual the feds are anxious to speak with, having already spoken to his doctors, the masseuse, bodyguards, housekeepers, business associates and actress Michelle Williams, the mother of his 2-year-old daughter, Matilda.
"Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak," a source told the Post.
