STURGIS, S.D. — Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was hospitalized Wednesday after falling off the stage during a concert in South Dakota, the Rapid City Journal reports.
The 61-year-old musician reportedly suffered head, neck and shoulder injuries. The seriousness of his condition has yet to be revealed.
Tyler was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital.
The singer's stage fall happened while he was performing the band's hit song "Love in an Elevator."
"He does a lot of dancing on the stage and he does a lot of stuff with his mike stand. He put his stand down and twirled around and stepped backwards off the stage," said Mike Sanborn, spokesman for the Buffalo Chip Campground, which hosted the outdoor event.
Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry later told the crowd that the show was over because Tyler was being taken to the hospital.
The incident happened about halfway through the band's performance at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
