HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Sharon Osbourne takes addiction problems seriously as witnessed Thursday during a conference call with reporters to discuss the Osbournes new variety show.
Osbourne, 56, became upset when asked if her family's history of substance abuse made them unsuitable to host "Osbournes Reloaded," debuting next week on Fox. She said the query was the "most ridiculous question I have ever been asked in my entire career."
"I am really angry. Do you know how many people in this country alone suffer from addiction? she responded, according to Reuters. "All my family are examples of being truthful about their condition and working though it and trying to better themselves."
"We are a real family and we don't pretend to be something we are not," continued Osbourne. "I have taken real offense...probably half the people watching our show have someone in their family who has a problem with alcohol and drugs."
While her rocker husband Ozzy and two children, Jack and Kelly, have all battled addictions, the family matriach noted that her 24-year-old son has been sober for six years, calling him a "beacon of hope to every young person in this country who is struggling with addiction."
"We live in the real world, and this world is tough," she said.
The new show, which premieres on March 31, will feature skits and plenty of pranks that are "all in good fun," according to Sharon.
The family previously enjoyed television success with MTV's "The Osbournes," which ended in 2005 after three seasons. The reality show earned the Osbournes an Emmy award.
Sharon Osbourne was recently sued by a former contestant on her "Rock of Love: Charm School" show over an altercation that took place during the VH1 series.
