TORONTO, Canada — Actor Corey Haim was laid to rest Tuesday at a private funeral service held in his native Toronto.
More than 200 friends and family attended the 45-minute service at Steeles Memorial Chapel to honor the former teen idol, who died last Wednesday at age 38.
Maytal Kotler, a second cousin of Haim's frequent co-star Corey Feldman, told the Toronto Star that the funeral was "very sad but with a lot of laughter."
A large crowd of fans were lined up outside to pay their respects, including Jennifer Matton, who drove eight hours to attend after finishing her work shift in Philadelphia.
"I think I'm his number one fan," the emergency room nurse told the paper. "I've loved him since I was 13. I've never done anything like this before, but when I found out he died, I was very sad."
On Monday, Feldman revealed that he would not be attending the service. He is currently in the midst of planning a memorial for his longtime friend.
Haim died after collapsing at the home he was sharing with his mother in Los Angeles. He had flu-like symptoms that he was treating with prescription medications in the days leading up to his death. His official cause of death has yet to be determined.
Feldman and Haim starred together in eight movies, including such '80s hits as The Lost Boys and License to Drive.
The pair recently reunited in the A&E reality series The Two Coreys, which was canceled in 2008 after two seasons.

LOS ANGELES — Corey Feldman won't be attending the funeral service for his longtime friend and frequent co-star, Corey Haim, scheduled for Tuesday in his native Toronto.
"In the days following my best friend Corey Haim's death, I have spent much time with his mother Judy, who has always been like a mother to me," Feldman said in a statement. "I would love nothing more than to be by her side at Corey's funeral, however, due to their strong religious beliefs and need for privacy, the family has decided to make Corey's funeral on Tuesday a small private affair."
"Understanding the recent media attention and to be respectful of the family's wishes, I have decided not to attend," he continued. "Instead, I will remain in Los Angeles quietly mourning and planning his memorial."
"As a sign of respect, I am asking the media to honor Corey Haim by making the same choice. I am working with a few people who were close to Corey to put a memorial together within the next month. At that time, the media will be invited to honor and celebrate the legacy he has left behind, along with friends, fans and the rest of the Hollywood community," ended Feldman's statement.

LOS ANGELES — Actor Corey Haim's funeral will take place in his native Canada, his mother tells Access Hollywood.
In an interview airing Wednesday night, Judy Haim reveals her plans to move back to Toronto to be closer to her daughter, who is expecting a baby within the next few weeks. While a date for the funeral has yet to be announced, the star's family wanted him buried nearby so they could visit him.
Haim, 38, died early Wednesday after collapsing at the home he was sharing with his mother in Los Angeles. He had flu-like symptoms that he was treating with prescription medications in the days leading up to his death, which has triggered drug overdose rumors in the tabloids. However, Judy Haim insists the public shouldn't jump to conclusions based on the former teen idol's past drug problems.
"Don't make assumptions before you get results," she tells Access reporter Maria Menounos.
Friends say Haim's final months were spent supporting his 61-year-old mother, who is currently battling breast cancer.
"Corey had been attending every doctor's appointment with his mom," the late actor's agent, Mark Heaslip, told People. "It was amazing how well he supported her."

Actor Corey Haim Dies at 38
LOS ANGELES — Former teen idol Corey Haim, who shot to fame in the 1987 movie The Lost Boys, has died. He was 38.
Haim was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif., a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County coroner's office told the Associated Press.
Haim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance after falling ill at his Los Angeles apartment.
The actor, whose career was sidelined by drug problems, had flulike symptoms that he was treating with prescription medications in the days leading up to his death, authorities said.
"He could have succumbed to whatever (illness) he had or it could have been drugs. Who knows?" Police Sgt. William Mann told AP. "He has had a drug problem in the past."
An autopsy is expected to determine the official cause of death. Police said there were no signs of foul play.
Haim won rave reviews for his title role in the 1986 film Lucas. He followed that with The Lost Boys and License to Drive, in which he appeared alongside his frequent co-star, Corey Feldman.

In a 2007 interview with ABC's Nightline, Haim admitted that drugs hurt his career.
"I feel like with myself I ruined myself to the point where I wasn't functional enough to work for anybody, even myself. I wasn't working," he said.
