HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Tila Tequila apparently doesn't plan to go away quietly.
The MTV star has intentions of suing Shawne Merriman, a revelation that came soon after the San Diego District Attorney's office announced Friday that charges will not be filed against the NFL star following an early-morning altercation with Tequila last weekend.
"Tila Tequila is the victim of a violent crime. The San Diego District attorney's decision not to press charges against Shawne Merriman for the battering of Tila Tequila demonstrates an unconscionable negligence in the discharging of their public duties. We strongly feel that justice has not been served in this matter," read a statement from Tequila's rep to TMZ.
"Obviously, The San Diego Charger's NFL franchise brings millions of dollars in revenue to the city of San Diego, and it seems clear that other interests are being served by the DA's office than the upholding of the law," the statement continued. "A young woman was violently beaten and choked, and the physical evidence is both overwhelming and disturbing. Tila's account of the events has remained consistent from the beginning, while Merriman's story has changed repeatedly."
"Just because the DA has made this reckless decision doesn't mean that justice will not be served in this case. No one is above the law. Tila Tequila will immediately begin pursuing civil charges against Mr. Merriman and she will have her day in court," the statement ended.
TMZ has since posted pictures that were allegedly taken of Tequila the day after the alleged incident. She appears severly bruised in the photos, with marks on her arms and face.
Tequila told authorities that the San Diego Chargers star choked her and threw her to the ground when she attempted to leave his home around 3:45 a.m. She later signed a citizen's arrest warrant, charging Merriman with battery and false imprisonment.
Both sides have since engaged in a war of differing stories. Merriman has insisted that Tequila was intoxicated and he was simply trying to stop a friend from driving, while the MTV star has claimed she was the victim of a violent crime.
"There is only one reason why I was running for my life.....why was I stopped? Hmmm....maybe the truth didnt want to leave the house," she wrote her Twitter page shortly after the incident.
