LOS ANGELES — Heather Locklear was arrested for hit-and-run on Saturday, hours after she allegedly struck a no-parking sign near her home in Ventura County, Calif.
According to TMZ, police were alerted by a neighbor who heard a crash near North Ranch Country Club around 4 a.m., but didn't call authorities until later that evening.
Cops then went to Locklear's home and confirmed that the damage on her BMW was consistent with the reported collision.
"It appears she drove up on a curb and hit the sign," sheriff's spokesman Ross Bonfiglio told People magazine. "We don't have any hard evidence that alcohol was involved. We don't know if anyone was in the car with her at the time."
The actress, who is due in court on May 17, wasn't taken into custody since the offense was a misdemeanor.
This isn't the first time Locklear has run into trouble behind the wheel of her car. In 2008, she was arrested in Santa Barbara, Calif., for allegedly driving under the influence of prescription medications. She is currently serving a three-year probation term after she pleaded no contest to reckless driving.
